While competition in the electric car market continues unabated, Skoda is preparing to enter the scene with its new affordable model. The brand has shared interior sketches of its all-electric compact crossover model, the Skoda Epiq, and announced that the vehicle will be officially unveiled on May 19th.
Skoda Epiq Features
The new Epiq will be the first production model to fully embody Skoda's new design language, dubbed "Modern Solid." The shared images reveal that the model's cabin adopts a horizontal architecture and a minimalist design philosophy. Notable features include the layered dashboard structure, a fabric-covered lower section, and rectangular air vents. On the driver's side, there's a two-spoke steering wheel and a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster. In the center, a 13-inch freestanding multimedia screen is positioned.
Immediately below the screen are slim air vents and haptic feedback shortcut buttons, while the center console features an open storage area and a wireless phone charging unit. Additionally, ambient lighting aims to create a warmer atmosphere in the cabin. Skoda also emphasized sustainability in the model, stating that the seat upholstery uses 100% recycled materials.
Despite its compact class dimensions, the Epiq offers a practical boot volume. The standard boot capacity of 475 liters can be expanded to up to 1344 liters by folding down the rear seats.
Technical Details
On the technical side, the model was developed on the MEB+ platform. The Epiq is planned to be offered in three different versions. The entry-level version will feature a 38.5 kWh battery and 114 horsepower, promising an approximate range of 315 kilometers. The mid-level version will have a more powerful motor with the same battery, while the top-tier version will offer a 55 kWh battery and 208 horsepower, providing a range of up to 430 kilometers.
Production of the model is expected to take place in Spain, with a starting price of approximately 26,000 euros. This pricing positions the Epiq similarly to the brand's gasoline SUV model, the Skoda Kamiq.
