Fergani Space's 160-kilogram satellite, FRG-100D4, has successfully been placed into its target orbit at an altitude of 590 kilometers. The satellite will play a significant role in Turkey's goal of establishing a navigation network consisting of over 200 satellites.
Fergani Space Technologies, founded by Baykar Chairman of the Board and CTO Selçuk Bayraktar, has successfully placed its sixth satellite, FRG-100D4, into its target orbit at an altitude of 590 kilometers. The 160-kilogram satellite carries new technologies for the Uluğ Bey Satellite Constellation System, which aims to establish a national navigation and communication network.
Sent into Space with SpaceX
According to Baykar's statement, FRG-100D4 was launched into space as part of SpaceX's Bandwagon-5 mission. Approximately 63 minutes after launch, at 15:07 Turkish time, the satellite separated from the launch vehicle and successfully settled into its target orbit at an altitude of 590 kilometers.
Developed by Fergani engineers, the satellite incorporates more domestic equipment and new technologies compared to the company's previous vehicles. With a mass of 160 kilograms, FRG-100D4 also boasts the highest power generation capacity developed by Fergani to date.
FRG-100D4 utilizes numerous critical avionics components developed entirely with national resources within Fergani. These include reaction wheels and magnetic torque rods that help control the satellite's orientation, as well as a magnetometer, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), and a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver.
The satellite also features hardware such as steerable solar panels, a battery pack, a regenerative modem, and a phased array antenna. An AI-powered computer has also been integrated into the satellite for use in advanced missions.
A New Phase for the Uluğ Bey Satellite Constellation System
Beyond its higher localization rate for equipment, FRG-100D4 is also significant for Fergani's Uluğ Bey Satellite Constellation System project, thanks to its enhanced navigation and broadband communication payloads.
Fergani Space plans to implement this system, consisting of over 200 satellites within the next five years, entirely with its own resources. Upon completion, the project aims for Turkey to possess its independent navigation and communication network. These capabilities are also intended to be shared with friendly and allied nations in the future.
Fergani Sent Six Spacecraft in Two Years
Fergani Space's space endeavors began in January 2025 with the launch of the series' first satellite, FGN-100-D1. The company sent FGN-100-D2 into orbit on November 2, 2025. Shortly thereafter, on November 28, 2025, the orbital transfer vehicle FGN-TUG-S01, equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, was launched into space.
FGN-TUG-S01 performed its first orbital raising maneuver in space using innovative hybrid engine technology. The vehicle also successfully released the FRG-10D1 CubeSat it carried. This mission marked a significant development for Turkey's capabilities in transporting spacecraft between orbits and in-space logistics. Fergani's fifth spacecraft, FGN-100-D3, had been sent into space on March 29, 2026.
