The increasing demand for heat pumps for heating, moving away from natural gas, is driving companies to innovate intensely. Panasonic has announced a new heat pump using a split system for different needs.
Panasonic's new R454C heat pump series is designed for apartment-based residences rather than detached houses, offering various heating capacities.
What Does Panasonic R454C Offer?
The Panasonic R454C heat pump focuses on apartment-based residences rather than detached houses. This new pump, part of the Aquarea High-Performance N series, uses a refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of 148.
The new model consists of four versions with heating capacities of 3 kW, 5 kW, 7 kW, and 9 kW. It utilizes a split system where indoor and outdoor units are connected by refrigerant pipes. Panasonic stated that the pipe length can extend up to 50 meters and the height difference between units up to 30 meters, allowing for installation in various residential types.
The model also features a compact all-in-one indoor unit with a height of 1,575 mm and base dimensions of 599 × 602 mm. The manufacturer noted that the smaller dimensions aim to facilitate installation in residences with limited indoor space.
According to Panasonic, the heat pumps are designed to operate when the outdoor temperature drops to -25 °C. The outdoor unit of the 5 kW version has a sound power level of 58 dB(A). The systems also include connectivity features that enable remote operation and maintenance via Panasonic's cloud-based control platforms.
According to the manufacturer, the energy efficiency of the heat pumps reaches A+++ at a water outlet temperature of 35 °C, and A++ at 55 °C. The domestic hot water efficiency class goes up to A+. The heat pumps, which will be entirely manufactured in Europe, will be available on the market next year. Performance coefficients and pricing information have not yet been announced.
