Alienware Introduces Gaming Laptops with 240Hz OLED Displays

Alienware has refreshed its gaming laptop series. The company introduced the Area-51 with 16-inch and 18-inch 240Hz OLED display options, alongside the thinner and lighter gaming laptop, the Alienware 16X Aurora.

Alongside the Alienware Area-51 series, the Alienware 16X Aurora has been updated with a 240Hz anti-reflective OLED display.


Alienware 16 Area-51 & 18 Area-51 Gaming Laptop Features

The Alienware 16 Area-51 and Alienware 18 Area-51 are high-end models. Both utilize Alienware's new Alienware 30 design and feature an anodized aluminum chassis in Liquid Teal. The 16-inch model stands out as the first Alienware gaming laptop with an anti-reflective OLED screen. The 16-inch OLED panel offers a 2560x1600 resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, and up to 620 nits of brightness. The company states that the anti-reflective coating reduces reflections by up to 32%. The display supports NVIDIA G-SYNC, ComfortView Plus, and Advanced Optimus.

The OLED-equipped Area-51 models utilize the new Cryo-Chamber thermal system. The 16-inch model supports up to 240W of gaming power, while the 18-inch model supports up to 280W. Airflow is said to be increased by 35%, and fan noise reduced by 15% compared to the previous generation. Models with RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards and above feature a vapor chamber cooling system. Graphics card options include the RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB GDDR7 memory, the RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7 memory, and the RTX 5090 with 24 GB GDDR7 memory. Memory goes up to 64 GB DDR5 RAM with XMP support. Storage can reach up to 12 TB using RAID 0.

The Alienware 18 Area-51 comes with an 18-inch WQXGA LCD display offering a 300 Hz refresh rate, 3 ms response time, 500 nits of brightness, and supporting NVIDIA G-SYNC Advanced Optimus. It features a full-size SD card slot, Thunderbolt 5 support (depending on the GPU), 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and is powered by a 96 Whr battery with a 360W GaN adapter. The laptop's maximum weight is 4.34 kg.


What Does the Alienware 16X Aurora Gaming Laptop Offer?

The Alienware 16X Aurora is designed for those seeking a high-end gaming experience in a more portable laptop. It features a 16-inch WQXGA anti-reflective OLED panel providing a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.2 ms response time. Processor options range from Intel Core Ultra 5 235HX to Core Ultra 9 275HX. Graphics card options include the RTX 5060 and RTX 5070, both with up to 130W Dynamic Boost. It offers up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory, dual NVMe SSDs with RAID 0, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, and a 90 Whr battery.

Alienware also stated that it will expand its product range in the later months of 2026. This includes a new ultra-thin gaming laptop, approximately 17 mm thick, in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, and a new entry-level gaming laptop model for first-time gaming laptop buyers. The Alienware 16X Aurora, Alienware 16 Area-51, and Alienware 18 Area-51 will be available globally in the first quarter of 2026. Prices have not yet been announced.
