ASUS Kicks Off the WiFi 8 Era: Real-World Tests Conducted with ROG NeoCore

Future technologies continue to be showcased at the CES fair. In this context, ASUS unveiled the ROG NeoCore concept router, demonstrating the WiFi 8 standard with concrete data. The company emphasizes that WiFi 8 is not just about theoretical speed increases but also offers significant gains in real-world usage scenarios.

Focused on Stability More Than Speed

Unlike previous generations, WiFi 8 does not solely focus on increasing raw bandwidth. According to technical details shared by ASUS, the standard offers significant improvements, particularly in areas such as connection stability, latency consistency, and multi-device coordination. Tests indicate that WiFi 8 provides twice the data transfer speed at medium range compared to WiFi 7. Furthermore, a six-fold reduction in P99 latency values and twice the coverage area for IoT devices are among the other notable improvements.

According to Tenlong Deng, ASUS Corporate Vice President of Wireless & Networking, WiFi 8 aims to provide a smarter and more reliable communication infrastructure among smart home systems, AI-powered assistants, and cloud services.

The technical goals of the WiFi 8 standard include ensuring stable connections even at longer distances, better interoperability with neighboring routers, strong uplink reliability for low-power consumption devices, and smarter spectrum management. Offering low latency and consistent speed values even in dense network environments with multiple access points and numerous clients is one of the most prominent features of the new standard.

On the other hand, ASUS's first WiFi 8 concept router, ROG NeoCore, is still under development. However, the company's roadmap confirms that multiple retail routers and mesh network systems utilizing WiFi 8 technology will be released this year. This indicates that WiFi 8 will begin to become widespread starting next year, if not this year. Currently, WiFi 7 network products are already becoming accessible.
