BYD Yuan Max was seen camouflaged in China. The new electric SUV, which will be positioned above the Atto 3, will soon be introduced with a spacious interior and up-to-date BYD technologies.
BYD's new all-electric SUV model, the Yuan Max, was spotted camouflaged during road tests in China before its official introduction. The new model will be positioned above the brand's current Yuan Plus (Atto 3) model.
Yuan is a model family offered under BYD's Dynasty series. It currently consists of two models: Yuan Up and Yuan Plus. These vehicles are sold as Atto 2 and Atto 3 in international markets. The Yuan Max, which will be the largest member of the series, will initially enter the Chinese market.
The camouflaged images show that the Yuan Max retains the Dynasty design language. The front features slim, horizontally extended headlights, a large air intake, and a powerful nose structure. Additionally, easy-to-use door handles with mechanical opening functions have been preferred, in line with the new door handle regulations implemented in China.
The model includes classic side mirrors, roof rails, blind-spot cameras placed on the fenders, and a slightly sloping roofline that promises a spacious interior volume.
Inside, a new two-spoke, D-shaped steering wheel and the Yuan logo stand out. Behind the steering wheel is a compact digital instrument cluster, while the center console features BYD's rotating large multimedia screen.
In terms of powertrain, the Yuan Max is expected to utilize the new generation system used in entry-level BYD electric vehicles. This system, like in the Sealion 05, comes with a rear-mounted 140 kW (188 hp) electric motor. With a 50 kWh LFP battery, it offers an estimated range of approximately 430 km according to CLTC measurements. A more powerful version will offer a 160 kW (215 hp) motor and a 60.9 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 520 km.
The model's introduction date and pricing have not yet been announced. However, BYD is expected to gradually launch its new SUV within 2026.
