Google Introduces Personal Intelligence Feature for Gemini: Google Apps Can Be Integrated

Google has introduced the Personal Intelligence feature, making Gemini more personal and useful. Thanks to this feature, users will be able to connect their applications like Gmail and Photos to Gemini.

Google has introduced the Personal Intelligence feature, which makes its AI assistant Gemini more personal and useful. Thanks to this feature, users can connect their applications like Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search to Gemini with a single tap. The feature comes disabled by default; users can decide which applications to connect and can turn it off if they wish.

Gemini Will Be Able to Offer More Personalized Recommendations

Personal Intelligence offers two core capabilities: reasoning across complex sources and finding specific details from emails, photos, or videos and integrating them into responses. In Google's example, when a user asks about their car's tire size, Gemini doesn't just provide technical information; it also considers family trips in Google Photos to suggest different tire options for daily use and all seasons, adding ratings and prices. In the same scenario, license plate information can be found from Photos, and the car's trim level from Gmail.

Personal Intelligence also stands out in recommendations for books, TV series, clothing, and travel. For an upcoming holiday, it can analyze interests from past emails and photos to suggest alternatives that avoid tourist crowds, such as night train journeys and board games to play during the trip.

Google emphasizes that the feature is designed with privacy in mind. Connections will be optional and user-controlled. Gemini will indicate which connected source it used in its responses. Furthermore, personalization can be turned off to regenerate responses if desired.

Google also states that Gmail or Photos content will not be used directly to train the model. During training, only limited information, such as prompts and model responses, is utilized, with personal data extracted or anonymized.

Personal Intelligence will begin rolling out to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US within the next week. It is planned to be expanded to more countries and free users over time. For now, the feature applies to personal Google accounts and does not cover Workspace (business, enterprise, education) accounts.
