Pickle 1 Unveiled: The First AI-Powered "Soul Computer"

Pickle 1 Unveiled: The First AI-Powered "Soul Computer"

Y Combinator-backed Pickle has officially announced its new wearable device, the Pickle 1. The company describes this augmented reality-based product as the world's first "soul computer." Pickle 1's core claim is to see, hear, and remember daily life alongside its user. This AI-powered AR headset aims to take the concepts of personal memory and digital companion a step further. Only time will tell if it will share the fate of devices like Humane or Rabbit R1.

Pickle does not position the Pickle 1 as a smartphone alternative. The company's main goal is to create a memory layer that accompanies the user's life. The idea of an AI assistant that remembers conversations, preserves context, and perceives the world with you might be highly appealing to some users, while unsettling to others.

Available in the Second Quarter of 2026

The retail price for Pickle 1 has been announced as $1,300, with a lower price tag of $799 set for a limited initial production batch. The device is scheduled to ship in the second quarter of 2026. Weighing approximately 68 grams, the product comes in the form of AR glasses designed to be comfortable for daily use. However, the company notes that the weight may vary depending on the type of glass used, prescription lenses, or additional accessories.

Pickle states that the device offers up to 12 hours of mixed usage time. This 12-hour usage includes 4 hours of active AR display viewing, 2 hours of active AR spatial viewing, and standby mode. Real-world battery performance will directly depend on usage intensity.

The company also acknowledges that the aluminum casing may heat up during intensive AR use or continuous recording, and performance degradation or temporary shutdown may occur if safe temperature limits are exceeded.

Age warnings regarding the use of Pickle 1 are also quite clear. The device is not suitable for children under 13, and users between 13 and 18 years old should use it under parental supervision. The primary reason cited for this is potential eye strain and visual stress from prolonged use.

Comes with Pickle OS

Pickle 1 operates with an artificial intelligence system called Pickle OS. The company states that this memory-focused operating system can learn the user's habits, preferences, and intentions within a few days of use. Daily events, personal notes, and recurring behaviors are transformed into searchable "memory bubbles" by the system. This structure allows information seen or events experienced in the past to be brought back to the user exactly when needed. These bubbles can be edited later.

On the other hand, the company explicitly states that the AI may generate erroneous, inconsistent, or entirely fictional information, emphasizing that users should verify critical information themselves. Furthermore, it is specifically noted that the device is not a medical product, and health-related comments should not replace professional medical advice.

The integrated cameras, microphones, and sensors in the device can perceive real-world context. This enables actions such as sending messages, calling a ride, making restaurant reservations, or shopping to be performed through natural interactions without opening applications or navigating menus.

Pickle particularly emphasizes that privacy and security are at the core of the product. According to the company, all data is processed within secure, hardware-isolated areas and is only temporarily stored in memory. Content viewed through AR lenses is stated to be visible only to the user. Encryption, fingerprint authentication, and a one-touch "off-the-record" mode give users direct control over which moments are recorded or remembered.
