iPhone 18 Pro Max May Come with a Larger Battery: Here's the New Claim

Although there are still months until the launch of Apple's next flagship iPhone 18 Pro series, information has already started to leak. The latest rumor from China makes claims about the battery capacity of the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

iPhone 18 Pro Max's battery capacity will increase

According to Digital Chat Station, a reliable leaker on Weibo, the iPhone 18 Pro Max model sold in China will come with a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh or more. The international version is claimed to have a slightly larger battery, approximately in the range of 5,100–5,200 mAh.

The reason for this difference in battery capacity is the presence of a physical SIM card slot in the China-specific model. Models sold in many other countries will only offer eSIM support. For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max model with a physical SIM slot carried a 4,832 mAh battery, while its eSIM-only version reached 5,088 mAh.

In addition to the increased capacity, the device's battery life is expected to significantly improve thanks to the new 2 nm manufacturing process A20 Pro processor. However, the battery capacity still lags considerably behind Chinese phones, which today exceed 7,000 mAh and reach 10,000 mAh. Nevertheless, it should be noted that Apple's hardware-software compatibility and high optimization allow for longer battery life with a smaller battery.
