New 2026 Suzuki Across Unveiled: Toyota RAV4's Twin Sibling is Here

New 2026 Suzuki Across Unveiled: Toyota RAV4's Twin Sibling is Here

Japanese automaker Suzuki has announced the second generation of its hybrid SUV model, the Across, developed for the European market. Built on the new generation Toyota RAV4 platform, the Suzuki Across takes its resemblance to its twin sibling a step further. While the previous generation Across differed from the RAV4 in terms of design, the new SUV has become an almost identical copy of the Toyota model.

Unlike its predecessor, the new Suzuki Across is based on the off-road-focused version of the Toyota RAV4, known as "Woodland" in the US and "Adventure" in Japan. This touch has given the vehicle a more imposing front bumper and a horizontal-lined radiator grille. With a length of 4,600 mm and a wheelbase of 2,690 mm, the vehicle is offered with a slightly shorter body compared to the previous generation.

Engine and Performance

The new Across will only be sold with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-wheel-drive (E-Four) system. At the heart of the system is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine producing 143 horsepower, accompanied by two electric motors positioned at the front and rear. The total system output reaches 304 horsepower, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.

The battery capacity of the new model has been increased to 22.7 kWh, which will provide a longer electric range compared to its predecessor. The electric driving range has not yet been announced, but Toyota's sharing of an approximate 100 km value for the same system suggests that the new Across could offer a similar range. Additionally, the vehicle features a "Trail" driving mode for challenging road conditions. This mode optimizes torque distribution and adjusts brake and throttle responses according to off-road conditions.

Interior and Price

The cabin of the new Suzuki Across has undergone a technological transformation. The driver is presented with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while a large 12.9-inch touchscreen is available in the center console for multimedia and climate control. For the first time in this model, a head-up display (HUD) is offered, projecting information such as speed and navigation directly onto the windshield. Wireless charging, five USB-C ports, and a 446-liter trunk volume are among other notable features.

On the safety front, comprehensive equipment such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, pre-collision system, lane keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera system are offered as standard. The new Suzuki Across is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2026. Official prices have not yet been announced. However, with the all-wheel-drive Toyota RAV4 PHEV starting at approximately 46,500 euros in Europe, the Suzuki Across is expected to be positioned at a similar price point.
