Apple has released the first beta of iOS 26.5 for developers and enthusiasts. iOS 26.5 beta 1 does not include the new Siri or Apple Intelligence features. Apple might surprise us with a future beta release, but all signs indicate that Gemini-powered artificial intelligence features will be introduced with iOS 27.
Apple announced Apple Intelligence in June 2024. The company released most of the features it showcased as part of iOS 18.1, iOS 18.2, iOS 18.3, and iOS 18.4. However, Personal Intelligence was never included in any iOS 18 updates. The in-app action and screen awareness features initially announced by Apple were also not included.
Following iOS 18, iOS 26 arrived. Apple aimed to introduce new Siri features with the iOS 26.4 update, but it was postponed to iOS 26.5 due to not being fully ready. It was even rumored that Apple engineers were testing iOS 26.5 and that this version included all the Apple Intelligence Siri features promised at WWDC 2024, but no new AI features were found in the iOS 26.5 beta 1 released yesterday.
iOS 27 Introduction Approaches
It is possible that Siri features could arrive in another beta version of iOS 26.5, but as June and the WWDC event for iOS 27's introduction draw closer, this possibility is diminishing.
Siri Transforms into a Chatbot
The version of Siri that Apple plans for iOS 27 will go far beyond what was shown at WWDC 2024. Siri will transform into an independent chatbot, and the personal assistant will be on par with Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI chatbots.
