Microsoft confirmed: Windows 11 25H2 update becomes mandatory

Microsoft is making its update policy for Windows 11 more stringent. According to new information, the company is preparing to make the Windows 11 25H2 version mandatory for individual users. With this change, the option for users to defer the update indefinitely will be removed.

According to the shared information, Microsoft will gradually roll out the new system. Microsoft uses a machine learning-based model to determine which devices will receive the update first. However, the ultimate goal of this process is for all Windows 11 devices not under corporate IT management to transition to the 25H2 version.

The most important reason behind the mandatory update is security. With Windows 11 25H2, many vulnerabilities identified in the operating system have been patched. For this reason, Microsoft believes that remaining on older versions poses a risk to users and wants to accelerate the transition.

Furthermore, it should be noted that the 25H2 version has reached a more stable point compared to its initial release period. The fact that known bugs have been largely addressed means users can complete the update more smoothly. Microsoft is also currently continuing to develop the Windows 11 26H2 version.

This version is expected to bring improvements aimed at increasing system performance and reducing unnecessary software. It was also shared that the 26H1 update, specifically for ARM-based devices, will only be available on a limited number of devices for now.
