The Scream (Çığlık) series, which returned to cinemas this year with its seventh film, will continue for at least one more installment. Following the box office success of the latest film, Scream 8 has been greenlit.
Scream (Çığlık), one of the most famous horror film franchises, returned to cinemas this year with its seventh film. Despite the behind-the-scenes drama that led to the sidelining of young actors and brought the original stars back to the forefront, Scream 7 (Çığlık 7) surprisingly achieved success. The film grossed 204 million dollars worldwide, setting a new record for the series.
Scream 8 Officially Approved
The success of Scream 7 has extended the life of the series even further. The studio has officially given the green light for Scream 8. Work on the new Scream film is expected to begin soon. Kevin Williamson, who wrote and directed the seventh film, had previously stated in an interview that he had ideas for an eighth film. However, due to his involvement in other projects, he will only serve as a producer on this new installment. Instead, Lilla and Nora Zuckerman will write Scream 8.
Although Scream 7 continued the recent line of Scream films, it saw significant changes for the series. The lead actresses of this new era, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, are not part of the new film. This is because the series' producers parted ways with Barrera for her support of Palestine; Jenna Ortega then withdrew from the project in response. Therefore, neither of them is part of the series anymore.
Following these departures, the producers opted for a different approach to continue the series, bringing back the stars of the older films for Scream 7. Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox star in Scream 7. Neve Campbell's character, Sidney Prescott, was last at the center of the story in 2011's Scream 4.
In this new film of the series, a new Ghostface pursues Sid. This time, Sid must fight not only for her own life but also for the lives of her husband and daughter.
