Google continues to gradually roll out new features for its Gemini AI application ahead of the I/O 2026 event. Recently, some users noticed the "Thinking level" option appearing in the app. Additionally, the company is preparing to expand Gemini's third-party service integrations.
Longer thinking setting is coming
The new thinking level menu currently offers users two different options: "Standard" and "Extended." This option is located at the bottom of the model selection window and is only active when Fast (Gemini 3 Flash) and Gemini 3.1 Pro models are selected. It is stated that this setting is not yet available for the "Thinking" model.
The new structure follows a similar logic to the low, medium, and high thinking levels found in the Google AI Studio platform. These settings are expected to allow the model to perform longer analyses on more complex queries.
New third-party app integrations
Google is also preparing to add new third-party service integrations to the Gemini app. Currently, supported third-party applications within Gemini include @GitHub, @OpenStax, @Spotify, and @WhatsApp.
According to leaked support documents, @Canva, @Instacart, and @OpenTable integrations will soon be available. These features are not yet generally accessible.
Thanks to Gemini's Canva integration, users will be able to generate design ideas via Gemini and transfer them directly to Canva projects. The system will offer comprehensive functionalities, ranging from accessing design files and managing folders to replying to comments.
Gemini's Instacart integration aims to make grocery shopping directly part of the chat experience. Through this system, users will be able to check the stock status of grocery products in stores and add items directly to their Instacart cart.
Gemini's OpenTable integration aims to make restaurant reservation processes AI-powered. The system will use Google's "Reserve with Google" infrastructure to check restaurant availability and complete reservation processes via OpenTable.
