iOS 27 to Refresh iPhone's Camera App

iOS 27 to Refresh iPhone's Camera App

According to a new report, Apple plans to make the Camera app fully customizable. This will give users direct control over which tools appear on the screen and where they are located within the interface.

iOS 27 Camera App Will Be Fully Customizable

The update appears to focus on flexibility, especially for users who constantly switch between casual photography and more advanced manual controls. Apple reportedly wants its Camera app to look simpler for ordinary users, while also becoming much more useful for content creators, photographers, and advanced users who desire quicker access to specific controls.

Apple reportedly plans to maintain the default Camera layout for users who prefer the existing experience, but professional users will be able to access deeper customization tools via a transparent "Widget Add" button that slides up from the bottom of the app. Each shooting mode will have its own customizable controls, meaning Photo mode, Video mode, and other shooting modes can behave differently based on user preferences.

The following can be customized in the iOS 27 Camera app:

  • Flash controls
  • Exposure settings
  • Timer shortcuts
  • Resolution settings
  • Photographic Styles
  • Depth of field controls
  • Grid and level tools
  • Manual camera controls

The report also states that Apple has reorganized some parts of the interface for easier access to these options during shooting. A notable change is the relocation of the "show all controls" button from the top right corner to a new position next to the shutter button, which will make one-handed use easier on larger iPhones.

Siri Mode Will Be Available in the Camera App

Apple will also introduce a new Siri-powered Camera mode with iOS 27. Apple reportedly plans to place the Siri mode directly next to Photo and Video modes, allowing users to access Visual Intelligence features without leaving the Camera app.

iOS 27 Innovations to Be Introduced on June 8

Apple will officially unveil iOS 27 at WWDC on June 8. Apple is also expected to introduce a redesigned Siri experience, updated AI tools, and broader changes related to the evolving Liquid Glass design language at this event.
