A new claim has emerged regarding Apple's long-rumored foldable iPhone, just hours before its introduction, suggesting a new name and price. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the device will be released under the name iPhone Duo. Until now, the name iPhone Ultra was prominent for the foldable iPhone. Additionally, pricing information for the iPhone Duo has also been shared.
It will cost $2,000
According to Gurman's claim, the entry-level model of the iPhone Duo, with 256 GB of storage, will start at $2,000. Prices are expected to go up to approximately $3,000 for higher storage options.
Previous rumors suggested that the foldable iPhone's starting price could be over $2,000, even reaching $2,500.
Compared to its rivals, the iPhone Duo's price will still be quite high. The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 start at around $1,899. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is priced at $2,100.
Could go on sale in October
Even if the foldable iPhone is introduced today, it will take a little longer for it to go on sale. Gurman states that the device will be available for purchase as early as October. It is also rumored that the iPhone Duo will be offered in two color options: white and dark blue.
The technical specifications reported by Gurman indicate that Apple will position its foldable iPhone as a high-end model. The device is expected to use the A20 Pro processor and Apple's new C2 modem.
On the camera front, it is claimed that there will be two 48-megapixel cameras on the rear and a 12-megapixel camera on the front. Apple's magnetic hinge system is said to be used for the foldable mechanism.
The device's software is also expected to leverage the advantages of the foldable screen. According to rumors, the iPhone Duo will be able to run iPhone applications side-by-side on two sections of the screen and offer iPad-like multitasking features.
Apple's "Surprise and Shine" event will begin on Wednesday, September 9, at 8:00 PM TSI. The latest developments will be on DH starting at 8:00 PM.
