ChatGPT, which has become one of the most frequently used internet tools for millions of people today, has now started showing ads to users in Turkey. It was announced at the beginning of this year that ads would be displayed during chats with ChatGPT, and this feature was first implemented in the US in February. Since then, ChatGPT ads have gradually spread to the rest of the world, and as of today, they have started appearing for users in Turkey.
For ChatGPT users with Plus, Pro, Enterprise, or Edu subscriptions, the ad-free experience continues. Ads are currently shown only to Free and Go users. As you can see in the image above, ads appearing below texts or images during conversations are clearly separated from chat responses and labeled as advertisements.
Similar to Google, personalized ads are expected to be implemented over time. However, this system is not yet fully operational. While ChatGPT makes ad choices related to the conversation in that window, it does not target ads based on the user's profile. Of course, this situation may change in the future.
How Does the System Work for Advertisers?
The emergence of an opportunity to advertise on a platform like ChatGPT, which has become central to internet traffic, naturally creates new opportunities for advertisers. Advertisers in Turkey can now create ad campaigns on ChatGPT. The specified minimum daily budget for this is 25 dollars. This means if you want to advertise on ChatGPT, you need to be prepared to spend 25 dollars daily.
In the initial phase, ad campaigns can be created for three different objectives: "Conversion," "Reach," and "Clicks." Reach aims to show the ad to as many users as possible and increase brand visibility; Clicks focuses on directing users to the advertiser's website or product. Conversion, on the other hand, optimizes ad display to reach users who are likely to perform a specific action, such as making a purchase, signing up, or submitting a lead form.
