Xiaomi officially introduced its latest foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, at its flagship product launch event on September 7.
Screen and Form Factor
The Xiaomi 18 Fold features a center-folding design with a 5.38-inch external display and a 7.58-inch internal display. Both panels use an aspect ratio close to √2:1, matching standard paper proportions. The screens support dynamic LTPO refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz and reach a brightness of 4000 nits (APL 30%). The external display provides an 8% wider screen keyboard than standard 6.9-inch phones.
The casing features wide-radius elliptical corners, a flat wrap-around frame, and a racetrack-shaped DECO camera. Unfolded dimensions are 117.8 mm x 163.8 mm x 5.02 mm. The folded thickness is 10.68 mm. The device weighs 219 grams. Red, gold white, and black color options are available.
Durability and Materials
The device is drop-resistant from 1.2 meters. It features a 7-series aluminum alloy frame paired with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. For the folding mechanism, Xiaomi uses a new generation Dragon Bone hinge, combined with a dual-layer ultra-thin glass (UTG) structure and organic flexible insulation materials. According to Xiaomi, the device underwent 492 structural optimizations based on full-angle environmental and simulation tests.
Hardware and AI Performance
The Xiaomi 18 Fold comes with the high-end Xiaomi O3 AI processor, which scored over 5 million points in tests. Key performance features include:
- CPU: 60% increase in multi-core performance with a 25% power reduction under medium and low loads.
- GPU: 85% increase in graphics performance and a 64% reduction in power consumption.
- NPU: Offers 200 TOPS of Tensor computing power and 3.13 TFLOPS of Vector computing power.
- RAM: The first company to commercially use LPDDR6 memory, developed in collaboration with Changxin Memory.
Software enhancements include a revamped multi-tasking environment capable of running up to six split screens simultaneously, integrated with the "Super Xiao Ai Inspiration Ball" for voice-activated workflows.
Battery and Camera
Battery endurance is provided by a 6,000 mAh dual-layer Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery with 20% silicon content and an energy density of 920 Wh/L. Charging features include 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi states that the camera system was co-designed with Leica. The Xiaomi 18 Fold comes with a main camera featuring a 200 MP Leica sensor, a 50 MP Leica periscope lens, and a 50 MP Leica ultra-wide-angle camera. The 200-megapixel main camera has an f/1.7 aperture and OIS support. The 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera has an f/2.8 aperture, 3.5x optical zoom, 7x optical quality zoom, and OIS. There is also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.4 aperture on the back. Both screens feature 16MP cameras.
Special Ceramic Model
In addition to the standard model, Xiaomi also introduced a limited Ceramic Edition made from silicon nitride ceramic, which is said to be more durable. This model is stated to come with only 16 GB LPDDR6 RAM + 1 TB storage and is limited to 1,500 units.
Pricing
The price of the Xiaomi 18 Fold was announced as $1,638. This pricing applies to the 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage model. Pricing varies by memory and storage as follows:

- 12GB + 512GB: 11999 yuan ($1787)
- 16GB + 512GB: 12999 yuan ($1936)
