Lenovo is set to rival Apple's MacBook Neo with the IdeaPad Vibe, starting at $700. The IdeaPad Vibe stands out with its colorful design, OLED screen, processor options, and price.
Prices start from $700
Lenovo's IdeaPad family, which has remained in the shadow of its Yoga, ThinkBook, and ThinkPad series, is preparing to become more prominent with the Vibe model. The IdeaPad Vibe, with its starting price of $700, specifically targets value-for-money oriented users.
The laptop will be available with a metal chassis in various color options. The company thus adopts a vibrant and distinctive design philosophy that can attract younger users.
One of Vibe's most significant advantages lies in its hardware options. Users will be able to choose between Qualcomm Snapdragon X or AMD Ryzen AI 400 series processors. Memory capacity will go up to 24 GB or 32 GB depending on the configuration, while storage options will be available up to 1 TB.
Unlike the MacBook Neo, the IdeaPad Vibe will come with two different screen sizes. Users can choose between 14-inch or 15-inch models.
AMD-powered models will also feature two different battery options with capacities of 50 Wh or 65 Wh. For the display, OLED panels capable of reaching a 120 Hz refresh rate will be offered.
Vibe models include two 2-watt speakers and a 5-megapixel camera for video calls. The camera will support Windows Hello and also feature a physical privacy shutter. For connectivity, the laptop has a total of four USB ports: two USB Type-A and two USB Type-C. Additionally, it offers a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a microSD card reader, and a full-size HDMI port.
8 GB RAM might make you question life
While the IdeaPad Vibe's starting price of $700 seems attractive, the inclusion of only 8 GB of RAM in the base configuration stands out as a significant disadvantage. It is stated that 8 GB of memory might be insufficient for long-term use, especially in a Windows laptop. Just last month, it was revealed that the Weather application alone used 1 GB of RAM. Therefore, users with a flexible budget are advised to opt for a configuration with 16 GB or more RAM.
The market launch of IdeaPad Vibe models will be staggered. AMD-powered models will go on sale in October, while Snapdragon X-powered versions will be available in November. The release date for Intel-powered models has not yet been announced, with Lenovo stating that these options will arrive at a later date.
