After the significant interest garnered by Lanterns following The Penguin, HBO appears to be even more excited about new DC series. Indeed, the latest reports indicate that the channel is working on yet another DC series. Moreover, Lauren LeFranc, one of the key figures from The Penguin team, is leading this project.
HBO is Preparing a Poison Ivy Series
According to the latest news, HBO has commissioned Lauren LeFranc to develop a series about Poison Ivy, another villain from the Batman comic books. LeFranc, who served as executive producer and showrunner for The Penguin, will also lead this new project.
Currently in the early stages of development, the Poison Ivy series has not yet received a pilot episode or first season order from HBO. A concrete decision of this kind will require the completion of the script phase first. However, HBO is reportedly showing significant interest in this project.
Unlike The Penguin, Poison Ivy will not be set in the same universe as Matt Reeves' The Batman films. Beyond this, information about the project is quite limited.
Poison Ivy, whom we can describe as a dangerous and seductive woman capable of controlling plants, has not yet appeared in her own solo project. However, she has been featured in projects centered around other characters. Uma Thurman portrayed the character in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, while Lake Bell voiced her in the animated series Harley Quinn, where she is a prominent character.
