While AMD's Ryzen 9000X3D plans are yet to be finalized, a new model named Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D has appeared in shipping records. This processor features 16 cores, a 170W power limit, and more.

AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D Leaked

While the countdown continues for AMD's new Zen 5 architecture processor, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, it has been revealed that the company is working on a brand new model for its Pro series. The Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D was leaked in the NBD Data shipping records.

According to the information in the records, the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D, designed for the desktop platform, comes with a 170W power limit and a 16-core structure. This marks a significant leap for the existing Ryzen PRO 9000 family. For instance, the top-tier model in the series, the Ryzen 9 Pro 9945, has 12 cores and a default TDP of 65W.

In contrast, the 9965X3D having the same power limit as the standard Ryzen 9 9950X3D indicates a much more aggressive model in terms of performance. The X3D designation in the model name makes this processor even more interesting. While 3D V-Cache technology provides a significant advantage in gaming, it offers limited benefit in many professional workloads compared to high clock speeds.

This situation might suggest that the Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D could appeal to high-end professionals rather than traditional corporate users. Furthermore, the new processor is expected to support AMD's Platform Secure Boot (PSB) feature. This means the CPU will be locked to the first system it's installed in, eliminating the possibility of resale or use in different systems.

AMD has not yet made an official announcement. Therefore, it is unknown whether the Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D will be a limited production, niche model.
