Grok's Controversial Image Generation Feature Has Been Restricted

Grok's Controversial Image Generation Feature Has Been Restricted

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI, made another highly debated decision last week, allowing Grok to "denude" real people's photos. This feature, which was highly susceptible to abuse, indeed led to such incidents. In a short time, thousands of people's photos were stripped of clothing on X without their permission. Naturally, this sparked widespread reactions. In fact, a couple of countries, including the UK and India, announced they might initiate legal proceedings due to this.

Now Only Paid Subscribers Can Use Grok's Feature on X

It's unclear if it's due to these growing reactions, but X has restricted this controversial feature. As of today, Grok's image generation and editing capability has been disabled for many users. Now, only users with a paid X subscription can utilize Grok's image creation and editing feature. Of course, this applies to X. As you know, Grok also has a separate application. Users can continue to generate and edit images as they wish within this application.

It remains uncertain whether this is a permanent change or a temporary solution. xAI, facing serious sanctions in regions like the United Kingdom, may have found this solution to prevent further repercussions.
