LG Electronics is preparing to introduce its new 2026 LG Gram laptop family at CES 2026. The company is focusing on significant innovations in both hardware and materials for this new generation series. Among the prominent highlights are LG's newly developed Aerominum chassis structure and a dual AI approach that combines on-device and cloud-based artificial intelligence features.
LG describes Aerominum, used in its new chassis, as a special material developed in-house. This structure aims to reduce weight while increasing structural durability. LG states that the Aerominum chassis meets military-grade durability criteria, is more scratch-resistant, and offers a metallic surface with a brushed texture thanks to a structure called "aeroplate."
Thanks to this new material, LG has developed a model that holds the title of "the world's lightest 17-inch RTX graphics card laptop." However, it is important to specifically emphasize that the graphics card used here is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU.
LG Gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) and Gram Pro 16 (16Z90U)
The LG gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) model comes with a 17-inch LCD display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU, and 8 GB GDDR7 graphics memory. LG claims that the device's physical footprint is similar in size to many 16-inch laptops.
LG has also announced that this model will be exclusive to the North American market.
Another announced model, the LG gram Pro 16 (16Z90U), stands out with a 16-inch OLED display featuring a 2880 x 1800 resolution. The device uses Intel Core Ultra processors, but the exact processor model was not shared. Current information suggests that these systems will most likely feature Core Ultra 300 series processors.
LG is also introducing software updates with the 2026 Gram series. The revamped gram Link is positioned as a hub supporting file sharing, screen mirroring, and content transfer between Android and iOS devices. Additionally, integration with webOS-based LG TVs, monitors, and projectors is provided. On the security front, LG ThinQ stands out with features such as remote locking or wiping the computer's content if the device is lost.
Dual AI Approach
Another significant innovation in the 2026 LG Gram series is what LG calls its dual AI (dual artificial intelligence) structure. This system aims to offer both on-device AI features and cloud-based solutions, rather than a separate hardware-level AI processor. Selected models will come with Microsoft Copilot+ PC support, while LG's own solution, gram chat On-Device AI, will also be featured in this series. LG states that gram chat is built on the updated EXAONE 3.5 small language model and is specifically designed for tasks that run entirely locally without an internet connection.
