Google NotebookLM Strengthens Presentation Feature

Google NotebookLM Strengthens Presentation Feature

Google has eliminated a long-criticized limitation for its AI-powered note-taking and content creation tool, NotebookLM. According to the company's statement, previously, if a user was dissatisfied with a system-generated slide, the entire presentation had to be recreated from scratch. However, with the new update, this issue is resolved. The features are being rolled out to Pro and Ultra subscribers in the first phase, with free users expected to gain access in the coming weeks.

Here are the slide editing and PPTX export features coming to NotebookLM via commands:

With the new update, users can directly issue commands to rewrite, simplify, or update a specific slide within an existing presentation based on a different emphasis. This approach operates via natural language input, unlike the manual editing process in classic presentation software. In other words, the system analyzes the text-based instruction from the user and reconstructs the relevant slide.

The fundamental problem in the previous version was that dissatisfaction with a single slide necessitated regenerating the entire presentation. This risked content integrity and led to wasted time due to repetitive outputs. The new editing mechanism treats the presentation as a modular structure, allowing only the required section to be changed.

Another significant aspect of the update is the support for PPTX export. Users can now download their created presentations in a file format compatible with common presentation software. This means a draft created within NotebookLM can be used for detailed formatting or adaptation to corporate templates on different platforms.

The company also stated that Google Slides integration will be coming soon. The rollout plan for the new features is also noteworthy. The individual slide editing function is currently available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. Free users will be able to access this feature in the coming weeks.
