Bethesda has confirmed the long-rumored news, announcing that Starfield will be released for PS5 on April 7. This date will also mark the simultaneous release of two major updates for the game. Bethesda describes these dual updates as the biggest since the game's launch.
Coming to PS5 After 3 Years
The PS5 version arrives approximately three years after Starfield's launch on Xbox and PC. The new version will support all features offered by the PS5's DualSense controller. Additionally, for PS5 Pro users, two different modes will be offered, prioritizing either frame rate or enhanced visuals.
Furthermore, the first of the mentioned updates is a paid expansion pack called Terran Armada. Similar to 2024's Shattered Space, this pack adds an entirely new story to the game. Terran Armada offers players the chance to shape humanity's future in space while battling the robotic forces of the Terran Armada. New missions, characters, locations, and enemies are among the core elements of this expansion.
The second update, named Free Lanes, will be offered for free and will add a significant amount of content to the game. New locations, dungeons to explore, a new resource for weapon and ship upgrades, an additional land vehicle, access to storage from multiple outposts, and new crew members are among the prominent features of this update. Moreover, with improvements to the New Game Plus mode, players will be able to carry a limited number of items into a new playthrough.
Pricing Changed
In addition to new content and platform, the base version of Starfield has also dropped to $50 to attract new players. The Terran Armada DLC will be available for purchase at $10.
Furthermore, the game will be available on PS5 in standard and premium editions. The premium edition includes the base game, the Shattered Space and Terran Armada story expansions, a skin pack, virtual currency, and a digital artbook/music album. The standard edition is priced at $50, while the premium edition is $70.
