Xiaomi MIUI Officially Ends: Xiaomi Halts All Updates

Xiaomi MIUI Officially Ends: Xiaomi Halts All Updates

Xiaomi has made its final decision for one of its most fundamental mobile software products. The company's Android-based interface, MIUI, became completely unsupported as of March 24, 2026. Thus, a software ecosystem spanning many years has officially come to an end.

Support for the Last Devices Ends

Previously, with the transition to HyperOS, MIUI's active development process had largely ceased. However, it was announced that the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ models would continue to receive security updates until 2026. The V14.0.44.0.TGOMIXM version, released in December, was the last software package for these devices. As of March 24, 2026, both of these models lost all update support, and the EOL (End-of-Life) process for MIUI was fully completed.

The resulting situation formalized MIUI's journey, which was already technically nearing its end. Especially the Redmi A2 series, despite bearing the MIUI 14 version number, offered a simple experience based on pure Android (Android Go). For this reason, the period when the classic MIUI interface was actively used had practically concluded at an earlier date.

Xiaomi HyperOS Will Continue

Looking at MIUI's history, it's clear that this shutdown is not just a matter of a software update. MIUI, which began in 2010 as a custom ROM based on Android 2.2, was Xiaomi's first product. Developed before hardware production, this interface quickly gained attention with its weekly beta updates, extensive customization options, and community-focused structure.

Over time, MIUI built its own application ecosystem, gaining a distinct position in the Android landscape with features like a theme engine, dual app support, second space, app lock, and built-in call recording. User numbers supported this growth. Active user count, which surpassed 100 million in 2015, exceeded 500 million by 2021, marking a significant global milestone.
