Both SUV and pickup: The new Chery Tiggo V breaks boundaries

Chery unveiled its new Chery Tiggo V model at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. The production version of the previously showcased T1TP concept, the model stands out with its structure aiming to redefine the classic SUV concept. The brand describes the Tiggo V as a "convertible family SUV," emphasizing its adaptability to multiple usage scenarios.

Two characters in one vehicle: Transformation from SUV to pickup

The new Chery Tiggo V is offered as a spacious 7-seater family SUV in its standard form. However, the model's main distinction comes from its modular structure. The vehicle can transform into a pickup or a cargo-focused vehicle in a short time with different configurations. Its removable rear body structure and adjustable interior compartments make it possible to transport long and bulky loads. In this regard, the Tiggo V aims to offer a single-vehicle solution for both daily use and practical needs.

Spacious interior and remarkable dimensions

The model's 2,800 mm wheelbase and 1,297 mm interior height offer a spacious living area within the cabin. These values provide a significant advantage, especially for large families and users seeking ample volume. Chery aims to combine both passenger comfort and usage flexibility with this design.

Hybrid and gasoline options on the way

On the engine side, PHEV (plug-in hybrid) and traditional gasoline options will be offered. The model, which will feature Chery's new-generation hybrid technology, is stated to have a fuel consumption of 6.0 lt/100 km for the plug-in hybrid version and 7.84 lt/100 km for the gasoline version.

Impressive off-road capability

The Chery Tiggo V also supports its versatile character with off-road capability. With a ground clearance of 220 mm, the model offers a water wading depth of 700 mm for the PHEV version and 650 mm for the gasoline version. Furthermore, its ability to traverse 30% inclined surfaces indicates that the vehicle is prepared not only for urban use but also for challenging conditions.

It is not yet clear whether the model will be offered in global markets. However, this SUV and pickup combination could be a striking alternative, especially for users seeking versatile utility.
