Xiaomi is preparing to expand its Xiaomi 17 series with a new model. The Xiaomi 17 Fold, which will join the foldable competition, has appeared for the first time. So, what are the first details about the device?

Although foldable phones have been in our lives for a long time, they haven't been able to replace mainstream models. Manufacturers are trying to make a difference not only in design but also in hardware. At this point, it is rumored that Xiaomi might make a significant strategy change with its Xiaomi 17 Fold model.

Xiaomi 17 Fold is Coming

According to leaks, Xiaomi is working on a new horizontally folding phone. The exact name of the device has not yet been finalized. However, it is stated that it could be released under one of the names: Xiaomi 17 Fold, Mix Fold 5, or Mix Fold 6. The device is rumored to be developed internally under the codename "Lhasa" and referred to by the model number Q18.

The most striking detail that has emerged is regarding the processor. According to leaks, the device will be powered by Xiaomi's self-developed Xring O3 chipset. This processor is a continuation of the company's in-house chip development process, which previously started with Xring O1. This move by Xiaomi indicates its desire to move closer to a vertical integration strategy similar to Apple and Samsung.

On the other hand, there are talks of a change in the device's release schedule. The model, which was previously rumored to be delayed, is now expected to be introduced in early July, according to current information. Moreover, the Fold is not the only model to be added to the series. It is also stated that the company is working on the Xiaomi 17 Max model during the same period. This device is expected to come with high-end features such as a 6.9-inch flat OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB storage.

Additionally, it is rumored to have an approximate 8000 mAh battery capacity and 100W fast charging support. In terms of camera, it is claimed that it will feature a 200 MP main sensor, along with an ultra-wide-angle and a periscope telephoto lens.
