MediaTek's new Dimensity 8600 chipset, developed with a 3nm manufacturing process, has reportedly entered development. The chip is expected to offer a significant performance boost.
Dimensity 8600 is coming with major upgrades
According to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station, MediaTek has started developing the Dimensity 8600 model with a 3nm manufacturing process. This marks one of the biggest leaps yet for the company's performance-oriented mid-range processors. For comparison, the Dimensity 8500, introduced at the beginning of the year, was produced with a 4nm manufacturing process.
The chip in question is used in models such as Redmi Turbo 5, Poco X8 Pro, Honor Power 2, iQOO Z11, Motorola Edge 70 Pro, and Oppo K15 Pro. New information suggests that the Dimensity 8600 will feature improvements close to flagship level not only in terms of manufacturing process but also in performance and efficiency.
According to the leak, manufacturers like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor have already started working on new phones using the Dimensity 8600. Some of these devices might come with massive batteries exceeding 10,000 mAh. Especially with Chinese manufacturers recently shifting towards high-capacity silicon-carbon batteries, this possibility becomes stronger. The first Dimensity 8600-powered models are expected to be introduced towards the end of the year.
