Who is Ebenezer?
Based on Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol, published in 1843, Ebenezer tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a character who worships money and despises Christmas, and his great transformation into a person who best embodies the spirit of Christmas.
In the film, written by Nathaniel Halpern, Johnny Depp appears as Ebenezer Scrooge. Rupert Grint plays Ebenezer's assistant, while Daisy Ridley, Tramell Tillman, and Andrea Riseborough portray the visiting ghosts. The film is set to be released on November 13.
Ebenezer, seen as a step back into Hollywood for Johnny Depp, who also performed a live line at the San Diego Comic Con event, is conceived not as a blockbuster but as a softer Christmas film.
