Sony has released a new system software update, version 26.04-13.60.00, for PlayStation 5 users. The new version focuses on improving the user experience with minor changes rather than major innovations.
New System Update for PS5
According to the company's official change log, the update improves the usability of messages and certain screens. Sony did not share detailed information about other new features or performance changes in this version. More comprehensive PS5 updates released recently had specifically targeted PS5 Pro users.
These updates introduced an improved version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, brought innovations to the Friends Activity component, added an option to view the console's serial number via the system, and offered new features like Power Saving mode to users.
The new system software was released ahead of titles expected in August and September, such as Control Resonant, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Meanwhile, Sony's system update announcements have recently become the focus of a different debate.
Furthermore, Sony's decision to end physical media support after 2028 continues to draw criticism. However, Sony has not made any official statements indicating a change in policy in response to these criticisms.
