Following the EQA, for which order intake was halted in April, the series production of the new generation all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLA has officially begun at the Rastatt plant in Germany. The internal combustion and hybrid versions of the model, which will see its first deliveries in November, will begin production later in the year.
MMA Platform: 657 km Range and 320 kW Charging
Built on the brand's new generation modular platform, MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture), the electric GLA raises the bar significantly in its segment with its technical specifications. The compact model offers a driving range of up to 657 km depending on the configuration and promises very short charging times thanks to 320 kW DC fast charging support.
The vehicle, which has been open for orders since its world premiere in July, is available in Germany with prices starting from 48,599 euros.
AI and Digital Twin-Supported Production
For the vehicle whose production has started at the Rastatt plant, Mercedes-Benz has integrated digital technologies into the manufacturing process. The plant operates with high flexibility thanks to the MB.OS operating system, artificial intelligence, and the MO360 production ecosystem. Furthermore, it is stated that significant cost and time savings were achieved by using "digital twin" technology in the renovation work of the side assembly area, which will host GLA production from 2027.
The vehicle's electric power units and axles come from the Stuttgart plants, while its batteries are assembled by the company's Saxon subsidiary, Accumotive.
