The era of one registration for two phones has ended, be careful when registering IMEI

When bringing devices from abroad or buying second-hand devices, note that the possibility of registering two different devices to a single passport has ended as of the new year.

The era of one registration for two devices has ended

Until now, users could register two different physical phones to the IMEI-1 and IMEI-2 slots via e-Devlet, allowing them to use two devices with a single fee. BTK announced that this will no longer be permitted. The statement from BTK is as follows:

“In technical examinations conducted by our Authority regarding applications made through the IMEI Registration service offered via e-Devlet, where IMEI declarations were made in the IMEI-1 and IMEI-2 fields, it was determined that in some applications, the first and second declared IMEI numbers did not belong to the same mobile phone. Accordingly, in such registration processes, while the first IMEI number will remain open (registered) for communication services, the second IMEI number, determined to belong to another mobile phone, will be unregistered and closed after being kept open for communication services for one hundred and twenty (120) days.”

Users with devices registered in this manner need to check not whether the device is registered, but whether it is being used with a matched number, by accessing the IMEI Inquiry section via e-Devlet. Additionally, the IMEI number on the device can be compared with the one on its box by dialing *#06# on the phone.

Especially users who will bring phones from abroad or purchase second-hand phones must verify the foreign IMEI registration status for passport-registered devices. Otherwise, the phone may be shut down for communication.
