Volkswagen Releases Interior Photos of ID. Polo: Physical Buttons Are Back

Volkswagen has released interior photos of the new electric ID. Polo, which will be introduced soon. As previously stated, the new model will feature many more physical buttons and is considered one of the brand's most critical cars in the near future.

What will the Volkswagen ID. Polo offer in its interior?

Looking at the shared photos, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a large 13-inch multimedia screen on the center console stand out. In some trim levels, these two screens can be used with a nostalgic instrument design inspired by the first-generation Golf.

Immediately below the multimedia screen, there is a row of physical buttons dedicated to the climate control system. Basic functions such as fan speed, temperature adjustment, and hazard lights can be controlled from here. There is also a fixed shortcut bar within the screen, providing quick access to seat heating and detailed climate settings.

The steering wheel features numerous physical buttons for cruise control, volume, track changes, and vehicle settings. Additional buttons for audio and media control are also located on the center console.

One of the most welcome innovations is the complete removal of Volkswagen's frequently criticized two-stage window control system in its electric models. Instead, the driver's door now has the classic and much more practical four separate window buttons. There will no longer be a need to press an extra "Rear" button to open the rear windows.

Volkswagen had openly admitted its mistake in excessively leaning towards touch controls in the past. The new ID. Polo is one of the clearest proofs that the brand is reverting from this error.

Developed on the MEB+ platform, the front-wheel-drive ID. Polo has dimensions very close to the gasoline-powered Polo, but thanks to the layout advantages provided by its electric architecture, it offers a more spacious interior.

Sustainability is also one of the model's key focus areas. All textile materials used in the seats, door panels, upper part of the headliner, and carpets are produced from recycled PET plastic. In higher trim levels, the seat upholstery uses Seaqual yarn derived from ocean waste. The dashboard and door interiors are finished with fabric coverings, and an electric blind is offered for the large panoramic glass roof.

The final exterior design of the vehicle has not yet been fully revealed. However, the production version is expected to largely resemble the ID. 2all concept introduced in 2023. The model will be produced at Seat and Cupra's Martorell plant in Spain. The batteries will use cell-to-pack technology provided by Volkswagen Group's PowerCo company.

The starting price of the ID. Polo will be below 25,000 euros in many markets. However, the entry-level trim will not be available immediately after the car goes on sale. The more affordable version will reach dealerships later in 2026, after the higher trims have been released.
