Intel Processors Facing Price Hikes
According to industry sources, the company has already informed PC manufacturers that prices will increase. An initial increase of approximately 10% is being discussed. There are several fundamental reasons behind this decision. The most critical factor is the balance between increasing demand and production. The growth of "inference" workloads, especially in the artificial intelligence sector, has significantly increased the need for CPU-based solutions.
This demand, in turn, is causing production capacity to be shifted to different areas. On Intel's side, data center solutions are particularly prominent. Server-class processors like Xeon processors are receiving intense interest from large-scale data centers and hyperscaler companies. This leads to a reduction in the share of the production line allocated to the consumer segment.
Furthermore, the cost side is also creating pressure. Rising component prices directly affect manufacturers' profit margins. If CPU prices also increase, the situation will become even more difficult for PC manufacturers. The already rising BOM (Bill of Materials) values have pushed system prices upwards. This development is critical, especially for gamers and individual users.
Previously, issues in the memory and GPU sectors made it difficult to assemble affordable systems. If a similar increase occurs on the CPU side, accessing entry-level and mid-range systems could become even more challenging.
