The highly anticipated new Avengers film's release date might change. Marvel, not wanting to release Avengers: Doomsday on the same day as Dune 3, is now considering altering the film's date.
Avengers: Doomsday's Release Date Could Be Moved Up by a Week or Two
The decision to release two ambitious films like Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday on the same day had already surprised the cinema world from the outset. While it was thought that Dune 3 might change its release date to avoid clashing with Avengers, Warner Bros. refused to back down, as they were the first to choose this date. Now, information shared by John Campea suggests that the retreat might come from Marvel. According to Campea's sources, Marvel is considering changing the release date of Avengers: Doomsday.
However, this is not expected to be a major change. According to Campea, Marvel might move the release date up by a week or two to open before Dune 3. The date of December 11, 2026, which became vacant after Jumanji 3 was postponed, seems like a suitable candidate. One of the main reasons Marvel is wary of Dune 3 in this regard is that Warner Bros. acted earlier and secured agreements with IMAX theaters. Therefore, almost all IMAX screenings during the week of December 18 are currently reserved for Dune 3, putting Marvel at a disadvantage.
In Avengers: Doomsday, the new Avengers led by Sam Wilson, along with Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and the Wakandans, unite their forces against Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. X-Men members are played by actors from previous films, such as Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn.
The film, directed by the Russo Brothers, who also helmed Infinity War and Endgame, brings together familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Sebastian Stan, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Letitia Wright.
