The Galaxy S26 series was launched with One UI 8.5, bringing new interface and animation improvements, as well as AI features that Galaxy S25 users have been awaiting since launch day. The waiting period for the Galaxy S25, once a flagship, continues to extend.
Samsung initiated the One UI 8.5 beta program for Galaxy S25 phones in December. So far, 8 beta versions containing features, improvements, and optimizations have been released. However, some features present in the Galaxy S26 series are still not available. One such feature is call filtering, which Samsung initially stated would not come to the S25 series but later announced would arrive with a future update.
7-Year Update Promise is a Lie!
The vast majority of Galaxy S25 users in Korea believe that Samsung is not prioritizing its promise of seven years of operating system updates.
Last Year's Flagship, Galaxy S25, Still on One UI 8.5 Beta
Samsung is creating a distinction here; while it offers new features with the Galaxy S26 series, it keeps S25 users waiting. What's interesting is that S25 users paid almost the same price as for the newest phones. Samsung is not prioritizing user experience. The company could have accelerated the development process for this series and released the update immediately after the S26 series launch, or even in March; this move would have been welcomed by users. We are now in April, and the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series is still in beta.
