Competition in digital music platforms is no longer limited to content alone. User experience and interface design have become as important as sound quality. At this point, Spotify has released a new update directly targeting tablet users. The Android tablet and iPad interface has been revamped.
Spotify's Custom Interface for Tablets
With the newly released version, Spotify's tablet app is no longer just an enlarged version of the phone interface. This time, the company offers an experience designed from scratch to utilize large screens more efficiently. At the heart of the new interface is a side panel. Through this panel, it's possible to browse different content simultaneously while listening to music.
Furthermore, the ability to collapse and expand the panel offers a more flexible structure depending on the usage scenario, allowing for more controlled use of screen space. Another notable innovation is the dynamically changing interface structure based on screen orientation. The app no longer just resizes; it directly rearranges itself.
The video section has also been made more prominent with this update. A "switch to video" option added to the home screen allows users to quickly transition from music to video content. While the bottom navigation bar is retained, there hasn't been a major change in the basic usage logic. Finally, it's worth noting that the new update has been rolled out globally.
