Tesla Model 3 Exceeding Half a Million Kilometers: Battery Health Surprises

Tesla Model 3 Exceeding Half a Million Kilometers: Battery Health Surprises

The most debated topic concerning electric vehicles, battery life, is once again in the spotlight with the example of North America's highest-mileage Tesla Model 3. The vehicle, which has covered approximately 610,000 km, continues to operate with its original battery. However, there is a noticeable decrease in capacity.

7 Years, 610,000 km, and 34% Range Loss

When new, the model offered a range of 386 kilometers, but its current range, when fully charged, has dropped to 254 kilometers. This represents an approximate 34% loss in range.

Moreover, this situation has been confirmed by an independent road test. Driven at a constant speed of approximately 110 km/h under ambient temperatures ranging from 11 to 23 °C, the car achieved a real-world usable range of 222 km with an energy consumption of 14.5 kWh per 100 km. This figure practically confirms the decrease in battery capacity.

The overall picture shows that after 610,000 kilometers of use, the battery capacity loss is at 34%, and the car can still offer a driving range of over 200 kilometers. This means that while there has been a significant drop in battery capacity, the vehicle still provides a sufficient range for daily use.

Another noteworthy point is that this car is a 2019 Tesla Model. Since then, significant advancements have been made in battery chemistries. Battery manufacturers now promise longer lifespans.
