DDR5 memory prices rose by another 7 percent in July, reaching a new peak. The total increase over the last year has reached 448 percent, diminishing hopes for a price drop.
The rise in DDR5 memory prices continues unabated. According to 3DCenter's latest report, which bases its data on the German retail market, the price of DDR5 kits increased by 7 percent month-on-month in July. Consequently, DDR5 memory has reached its highest level ever, with a 448 percent price increase over the last year.
5-fold increase in 1 year
According to the shared data, DDR5 memory prices remained stable in February, decreased by 7 percent in March, and showed limited increases between April and June. However, the new 7 percent hike in July pushed prices back to a historic peak. According to the graph, the price index, which was at 100 percent in July 2025, rose to 448 percent by July 2026. In other words, DDR5 memory prices have more than quadrupled in the last year.
The sharpest price increases occurred between October 2025 and January 2026. During this period, monthly increases of 49 percent, 93 percent, and 28 percent, respectively, were observed. Although the rate of increase has slowed in recent months, prices are reported to remain at a high level.
Also affecting graphics cards
The increase in DDR5 prices is not only affecting memory kits. Due to rising DRAM costs, the production costs of graphics cards also continue to increase. Furthermore, ADATA Chairman Chen Li-bai shared that it could take approximately 10 years for the DRAM supply chain to rebalance. With increasing investments in artificial intelligence within the sector, demand for DRAM, NAND Flash, and high-performance processors is expected to remain high for many years.
According to experts, clearer predictions regarding supply and demand balance can only be made after 2030. The current situation suggests that the price increase in DDR5 memory will be permanent in the short term.
