Electronic Arts, despite losing its FIFA license years ago, has continued its successful streak of predicting the World Cup champion. The company had predicted Spain would lift the trophy in simulations conducted before the tournament began. Following yesterday's Spain vs. Argentina final, this prediction has once again come true.
A Remarkable 16-Year Streak Continues
EA announced that Spain would win its second World Cup championship in history through a post on the official EA Sports FC X account shortly before the tournament began last month.

The company first simulated all group stage matches. Then, based on these results, it calculated the knockout stage pairings and the path to the final. At the end of the simulations, Spain emerged as the team to lift the trophy. In the final, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 with a goal from Ferran Torres in extra time, securing the championship.
While many companies made various correct predictions during the World Cup, EA has been accurately predicting the winner for a long time. The company correctly predicted Argentina as the champion in the 2022 World Cup, France in 2018, Germany in 2014, and Spain in 2010. With this year's result, EA has now correctly predicted the World Cup winner for the fifth consecutive time.
Although EA no longer holds the official FIFA and World Cup licenses, it released an update called "The World's Game" for EA Sports FC 26 during the tournament period. The update added newly licensed national teams to the game, along with an International Tournament mode based on the actual tournament's group structure.
